Traveling offers you a chance to broaden your mind, meet new people all around the globe, and experience first hand some of the most amazing cultures in the world. Moreover, you are left with memories and unforgettable moments that no money can buy. Well, that isn’t completely true. After all, you need money to travel, and for some destinations, you need a lot of it.
New York City
New York is probably on everyone’s list of cities to visit. Everybody wants to experience the NYC lifestyle, art, and nightlife in the city that never sleeps, but there is a chance of ending up with a hole in your wallet while doing so. The average cost per night, for one person, is almost $500, which is unbelievable because you can go on a 10-day vacation somewhere else with that amount of money. Plus, don’t forget that everything from restaurants to cabs is more expensive here, so make sure you know what to expect before getting on the plane.
San Francisco
One the west coast of the US, we have another one of the most expensive cities to travel to – San Francisco. Being so close to the Silicon Valley and all those multi-million-dollar tech companies has a huge effect on the prices. You will have to spend a lot of money even for a simple night out, as you won’t find many places that offer beer for less than $7.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of the most expensive cities in Europe and you can see that especially in overly expensive hotels. You might also want to avoid taxis, as one short ride might cost you more than $17. Luckily, there are different ways of getting around the city which are more fun, such as, for example, cycling.
Los Angeles
What more could you expect from a city populated with movie stars, musicians, and other public personas? If you are staying in a hotel, be ready to pay around $250 per night for one person. Other things that you will probably spend a lot of money on are taxis if you are not prepared to walk. However, LA is also great if you are looking to save money, as you will find many food trucks that often have better food than expensive restaurants. But for everything else, better come prepared.
Ibiza
When you think about Ibiza, the first thing you think of is the partying that everyone wants to be a part of. Ibiza has become famous as a party island that also has some of the most amazing beaches. But what nobody talks about is how expensive Ibiza is, especially if you want to spend your time partying day and night. Some places will charge you as much as $20 per drink, so if that is the main activity on your itinerary, research the prices beforehand.
Venice
Not only will you have to pay around $250 per night if you are staying at a hotel, but since Venice doesn’t allow taxis, you will be forced to rely on water taxis which can be up to $20 for a small ride.
